Religious Persecution in the US military

Most people may  simply disregard me as a “Conservative nut job.” Paranoid and “full of crap” as one of my co-workers has said.   But I know that there has been an ongoing war against the Christian faith for several years in this country.  It has never been more evident since the election of Obama in 2008.  Most Christians everywhere are pretty OK with religious freedom.  I’m personally a “live and let live” kind of guy when it comes to religious freedom.   My personal feelings about faith are summed up with saying,  when “the end” finally comes, there will  be a huge number of people in for a really big surprise… and I’m OK with that.  I don’t force my religion on other people and I expect the same respect from others.  Unfortunately, the current wave toward Islam is not so relaxed.  In Iran, Syria, and Egypt you can be hung or stoned to death for not adhering to the Islamic faith.  With the support of the current administration, America, is becoming more of an “Islamic nation,” where any other faith is simply not tolerated.  I read an article this morning about the US military that Court Martial Soldiers Who Share Christian Faith.   When did it become a crime to practice your Christian faith in America?  What is wrong with praying to Jesus?   Now the liberals have started all this “separation of church and state” business.  So heck, why should it be unacceptable to pray whenever you feel the need?   When it comes to religion, even the devout agnostics seem to find their faith when they are in the heat of combat.   This is America where the founding fathers took pride in freedom.  It shouldn’t matter what you worship, you shouldn’t be persecuted for your beliefs.  Muslims are allowed to pray on their special rug several times a day and even change their dress military uniform to adhere to their beliefs.   But it seems that the governing powers are bending over backwards for the Islamic faith but Christians can’t even pray.  It has  somehow become a crime to be a Christian.  In the military, the soldiers are required to take classes and learn how to respect the Koran. The key Military leaders along with several Congressional representatives had a Muslim-American service member at Pentagon iftar dinner .  It seems that everyone is working double duty to be respectful to Islam.  What gives?

The Pentagon has released a statement confirming that soldiers could be prosecuted for promoting their faith: “Religious proselytizing  is not permitted within the Department of Defense…Court martials and non-judicial punishments are decided on a case-by-case basis…”.

The statement, released to Fox News, follows a Breitbart News report on Obama administration Pentagon appointees meeting with anti-Christian extremist Mikey Weinstein to develop court-martial procedures to punish Christians in the military who express or share their faith.

(From our earlier report: Weinstein is the head of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, and says Christians–including chaplains–sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ in the military are guilty of “treason,” and of committing an act of “spiritual rape” as serious a crime as “sexual assault.”

Being convicted in a court martial means that a soldier has committed a crime under federal military law. Punishment for a court martial can include imprisonment and being dishonorably discharged from the military.

So President Barack Obama’s civilian appointees who lead the Pentagon are confirming that the military will make it a crime–possibly resulting in imprisonment–for those in uniform to share their faith. This would include chaplains—military officers who are ordained clergymen of their faith.  This applies  to Christian pastors or priests, and Jewish rabbis – whose duty since the founding of the U.S. military under George Washington is to teach their faith and minister to the spiritual needs of troops who come to them for counsel, instruction, or comfort and especially in times of distress and war.

Yes, these are troubling times for us Christians… and yes,  (especially for those who claim to be devout Christian like Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi),  there will indeed be a passel of very surprised people when the end times finally come!
