A Nurse With Attitude

Where Dark Cynical Humor, Nursing Issues, and Politics Seem to Merge

Winter is over!

Spring time is here!  Yesterday was officially the first day of Spring.  Today is officially my first day off in Spring.   It’s sunny and pretty outside and I’ve been cooped up indoors long enough.  I’ve got a new rifle.  It hasn’t even been fired.  It’s a Savage heavy barrel tactical .308 with a custom trigger and a new BARSKA 6-24×50 tactical scope. I have a brand new AAC suppressor, and I’ve even got a bunch of custom ammo I’ve spent the Winter reloading.  I think I’ll be heading off to the range today to break-in my new rifle.

I might even do a little hike while up near McCormick Lake just to enjoy the day and get a little extra vitamin D boost.

Joining Beck

I’m not a great Glen Beck fan, I feel like I am listening to an elementary school teacher lecturing me on the finer points of politics, but I DO agree it’s time to shelve the Republican label. They’re just big government by another name.

And this is from Ace of Spades:

Added Gratuitous Anti-GOP Slap: Other than Keystone, the first 3 months of the GOP controlling the House with it’s largest majority in history consists of: -Funding Obama’s amnesty and caving to protecting the border -Shelving an anti-abortion measure that has wide public support and passed the House before -Proposing to reauthorize SCHIP at a rate higher than what George W. Bush vetoed TWICE -Negotiating a deal with Nancy Pelosi to add hundreds of billions of dollars in deficit entitlement spending.

I follow the news pretty closely. I’m pretty sure none of that was what the GOP promised.

I strongly believe if a true leader stepped up and proposed to lead a third party, any party it does not matter the name, they would actually do quite well. It wasn’t establishment Republican voters who blew up the mid-terms, it was conservatives and Libertarians who have had enough of the Obama crap, now add the GOP to that list.

I’ve had a cold chill on several occasions lately when I spout my Libertarian views and, while expecting a fight, the most radical of liberals agree totally with me!  Less government, less taxation and more freedom with a dose of self-reliance get liberals and conservatives together on most issues.

But in the real world, this is never what anyone in the government would ever want.  for them it’s always been divide and concur.

I’ve been saying it for a long time…

It’s Official: Americans R Stupid

As Americans, we tend to be pretty full of ourselves, and this is especially true of our young people.  But do we really have reason for such pride?  According to a shocking new report from the Educational Testing Service, Americans between the ages of 20 and 34 are way behind young adults in other industrialized nations when it comes to literacy, mathematics and technological proficiency.  Even though more Americans than ever are going to college, we continue to fall farther and farther behind intellectually.  So what does this say about us?  Sadly, the truth is that Americans are stupid.  Our education system is an abysmal failure, and our young people spend most of their free time staring at the television, their computers or their mobile devices.  And until we are honest with ourselves about this, our intellectual decline is going to get even worse.

Today I heard that our state government here in Oregon just voted and passed the “motor voter law.”  Now you don’t have to register to vote.  Anyone, and I mean anyone who applies and gets an Oregon state drivers license automatically gets registered to vote.  Take a minute to let that sink in.

The politicians are so happy bragging that they, in one signature by the governor,  they gained another 300,000 new voters in this state.  I am appalled.

Jaywalking or maybe The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon or even Jimmy Kimmel asking questions.  I think that stupid people shouldn’t be allowed to vote. Or at the very least, there should be some sort of test.  If you had to jump through some bureaucratic hoops and then go down to the designated polling place to actually cast your vote, then you would get mostly educated and informed voters.  Instead of doing something good, our politicians just cheapened my vote.  They,  “in one signature by the governor” diluted the value of my vote by 300,000 idiots who have no idea what they are even voting for.

In the end, I see no way out for the survival of this country.  The stupid people reproduce and  the politicians perpetuate it by preventing the public schools from actually educating and producing an informed voter.

Pulling out the stops

George Bush Sr. said as he was preparing for Desert Storm, We can build schools and roads and all sorts of stuff for the Arabs,  but no matter what we do, they will never respect us… but with a little effort, they will fear us.

The liberals are all about being extra cautious with the radical Islamists.  At work, they can demand all sorts of special considerations from a special diet to all female staff, including physicians, nurses and techs.  As for the rest of the world, There are restrictions to what anyone can say or do in the media and in public that might offend them.  They want to build a mosque very near 9/11 ground zero where crazed Islamist terrorists destroyed the World Trade Center.  We, as freedom loving Americans are required to cater to their every need.  On the other hand, Christians in their home countries are getting killed by horrible means.  They are crucified, beheaded, and stoned.  I feel that it’s past time to take those very sensitivities and use them against our enemy. The other day I was listening to War Pigs by Black Sabbath and I got an idea.  I did some research and found several ideas.

I’ve found several websites that apparently think just like I do.  There is a company that makes Pork Covered Ammunition  so Muslims shot can’t possibly get to heaven. There’s another  Company Sells Gun Oil that is laced with pig fat for the same reason.  There’s a company that sprays pig blood or a product from the plasma all over someone that is about to be a suicide bomber. If they can’t get to heaven, then the inventive is removed to jihad.

The liberals can’t even conceive this because it’s quite possibly insensitive to their feelings.  But, here’s a story from World of Mysteries about real “War Pigs” and how they were used back in the day.  I think this is absolutely great.

Can you see the possibilities and the low costs associated with the front lines of the battle against radical Islam?

“Iran endorses nuclear EMP attack on United States”

Of course they do. Is anyone surprised by this?

They can’t do it yet because they don’t have a nuclear weapon yet. But they want one and our President is determined to see that they get them.

Today Neil Cavuto had Col. Ralph Peters on his FNC show. Peters said that Americans should fear Barack Obama. He’s right.

A sidelight: Iran has been saying they only want nuclear power for its ability to generate electricity. This shows that to be a lie.

Suspected for years of plotting to dismantle the U.S. electric grid, American officials have confirmed that Iranian military brass have endorsed a nuclear electromagnetic pulse explosion that would attack the country’s power system.

American defense experts made the discovery while translating a secret Iranian military handbook, raising new concerns about Tehran’s recent nuclear talks with the administration.”

Iranian military documents describe such a scenario — including a recently translated Iranian military textbook that endorses nuclear EMP attack against the United States,” he wrote.

A knowledgable source said that the textbook discusses an EMP attack on America in 20 different places.”

Psychiatrists Say Non-Conformity Is Now a Mental Illness

Yep, it settles it.  I’m crazy.  My kids have said it,  and now it’s proven.  It seems that anyone that doesn’t naturally go along with the crowd is considered crazy… who knew?

(Natural News) Modern psychiatry has become a hotbed of corruption,  particularly the kind that seeks to demonize and declare mentally ill anyone who deviates from what is regarded as the norm. This is abundantly evident in the latest installment of the industry’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, or DSM, which dubs people who do not conform to what those in charge declare to be normal as mentally insane. The so-called “condition” for why a person might choose to resist conformity has been labeled by the psychiatric profession as “oppositional defiant disorder,” or ODD. The new DSM defines this made-up disease as an “ongoing pattern of disobedient, hostile and defiant behavior,” and also lumps it in alongside attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD. As you might suspect from this type of open-ended description, almost any personal behavior perceived by someone else to be undesirable or strange might be categorized as symptomatic of ODD. Children who throw temper tantrums or fight with their siblings, for instance, might be declared to have this supposed mental illness, as might children who express disagreement with their parents or teachers. A new American Revolution?

My oldest son called me tonight and we discussed politics.  He’s an Army officer stationed in Georgia.  He has a family of his own, working hard to do his job and also trying to defend this country.  I know he’s a busy man, so it’s a real treat to visit and discuss current events and politics.

The topic tonight was Obama and his failures. My son thinks he a nice guy, but somewhat of a poor manager.   I think that Jimmy Carter was an example of a poor manager. He was inept and bumbled the country into a difficult time.  Obama, on the other hand, is clearly different.  He is a very smart guy and has clear malicious feelings toward this country and is actively working to do harm… to fundamentally change the country.  My son defended Obama.  I told him “maybe you can speak your feelings more freely when your out of the Army and he’s no longer your commander in chief.”

With the uproar in the Northeast, the turmoil in Ferguson MO,  the failed stimulus program which wasted trillions of dollars, the socialization of the medical system, active encouragement of the shutdown of the shipping industry by the Longshoreman’s Union, the support of the Muslim Brotherhood and having them as a part of the White House cabinet, the fabrication and support of the racial divide, the support of the anarchist members of the Occupy Wall street crowd, the unwavering support to those who are clear enemies of this nation, by having terrorists as visitors in the White House, by having known anarchists as advisors are just a few.  It seems that our President and the his democrat supporters are doing everything they can to do harm to this country, and destroy all that our forefathers worked for.  I fear for the future of this great country.  I look to great Americans for guidance.  Here’s a brief opinion by one of my favorite writers and historians …

“Before a revolution can take place, the population must lose faith in both the police and the courts. High taxation is important and so is inflation of the currency and the ratio of the productive to those on the public payroll. But that’s old hat; everybody knows that a country is on the skids when its income and outgo get out of balance and stay that way – even though there are always endless attempts to wish it away by legislation. But I started looking for little signs and what some call silly-season symptoms. I want to mention one of the obvious symptoms: Violence. Muggings. Sniping. Arson. Bombing. Terrorism of any sort. Riots of course – but I suspect that little incidents of violence, pecking way at people day after day, damage a culture even more than riots that flare up and then die down. Oh, conscription and slavery and arbitrary compulsion of all sorts and imprisonment without bail and without speedy trial – but those things are obvious; all the histories list them.   I think you have missed the most alarming symptom of all. This one I shall tell you. But go back and search for it. Examine it. Sick cultures show a complex of symptoms as you have named… But a dying culture invariably exhibits personal rudeness. Bad manners. Lack of consideration for others in minor matters. A loss of politeness, of gentle manners, is more significant than a riot. This symptom is especially serious in that an individual displaying it never thinks of it as a sign of ill health but as proof of his/her strength. Look for it. Study it. It is too late to save this culture – this worldwide culture, not just the freak show here in California. Therefore we must now prepare the monasteries for the coming Dark Age. Electronic records are too fragile; we must again have books, of stable inks and resistant paper.” — Robert Heinlein (1982)

……which segues nicely into….. “Be courteous to all, but intimate with few, and let those few be well tried before you give them your confidence. True friendship is a plant of slow growth, and must undergo and withstand the shocks of adversity before it is entitled to appellation. ” — George Washington

We are Doomed

Because of my location, (Portland, OR)  my son sent me these two links about School’s Punishments for kids Upsets Parents.  Apparently when a kid does something bad, like throwing food in the cafeteria, the school board has decided to punish the kid by making him clean up the mess.  A bunch of the families went to the school board with their lawyers to complain.  Now the very act of punishment of kids is on hold.  I told my son that we, as an American culture and as a country are doomed.  What’s next?  We might as well follow this logical path to the end.  Lets just stop punishing criminals.  I mean, after all it’s humiliating to put criminals and murderers  in prison.  That’s their chosen career path, after all.  Why don’t we just let them continue to murder,  if that’s what they like to do?  No one should have to answer to their actions any more.  Teaching personal responsibility is something  that taught very young,  like in the first grade.   These delinquent kids eventually grow up and become adults.  Then will we continue to coddle them and let them off?  Duh,  I say we will,  just like we do with our current penal system.

Did you know that in today’s criminal justice system, no matter what your crime,  you are guaranteed to be up for parole within seven years or one third of your sentence, whichever comes first?

Been to the Mall lately?

Terrorism is on the rise.  Muslim, fanatics, extremists, and just plain crazies are on the rise.  That accompanied by the lax to nonfunctional court system and liberal lawyers, we are in for some trouble.  The shooting in France is just the beginning.  We have natural born Americans going to the Middle East to fight with the ISIS fanatics.  The way I see it, is it’s only a matter of time before we start having a serious up-tick in real mass casualty terrorism here in America.

I don’t care what all the liberals, the police, and the politicians may say, you don’t have to be a victim.  Arm yourself, stay alert, be aware of your surroundings, know where the exits are if you plan to visit your neighborhood mall.

My wife thinks I’m strange.  I study, I read, I exercise, I stay in shape, I run, then once a week or so I head off to the range.  I practice in short and long range using traditional sites, laser site, and in low light.   I practice standing, laying down and while moving.  I run,  then come back and try to shoot while my heart rate is up to simulate stress.

Whenever we go out, to a restaurant,  the park,  a concert, or even to the movie, I take my side arm and make note of all of the exits before I even sit down.  As I scope out the exits, I find the easiest way out and I keep my back to the wall before I ever sit down.

The way I look at it, it’s better to be safe than sorry.
