I’ve been saying it for a long time…
As Americans, we tend to be pretty full of ourselves, and this is especially true of our young people. But do we really have reason for such pride? According to a shocking new report from the Educational Testing Service, Americans between the ages of 20 and 34 are way behind young adults in other industrialized nations when it comes to literacy, mathematics and technological proficiency. Even though more Americans than ever are going to college, we continue to fall farther and farther behind intellectually. So what does this say about us? Sadly, the truth is that Americans are stupid. Our education system is an abysmal failure, and our young people spend most of their free time staring at the television, their computers or their mobile devices. And until we are honest with ourselves about this, our intellectual decline is going to get even worse.
Today I heard that our state government here in Oregon just voted and passed the “motor voter law.” Now you don’t have to register to vote. Anyone, and I mean anyone who applies and gets an Oregon state drivers license automatically gets registered to vote. Take a minute to let that sink in.
The politicians are so happy bragging that they, in one signature by the governor, they gained another 300,000 new voters in this state. I am appalled.
Jaywalking or maybe The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon or even Jimmy Kimmel asking questions. I think that stupid people shouldn’t be allowed to vote. Or at the very least, there should be some sort of test. If you had to jump through some bureaucratic hoops and then go down to the designated polling place to actually cast your vote, then you would get mostly educated and informed voters. Instead of doing something good, our politicians just cheapened my vote. They, “in one signature by the governor” diluted the value of my vote by 300,000 idiots who have no idea what they are even voting for.
In the end, I see no way out for the survival of this country. The stupid people reproduce and the politicians perpetuate it by preventing the public schools from actually educating and producing an informed voter.
