The wife and I went out to the movies. It’s getting to be a regular now that we go to the Tuesday night movies. Just down the road. OK, it’s like one block away, my neighborhood cinema. It’s the Progress Ridge CINETOPIA. They have a nice really large screen and they have la-z-boy style seating. They have a waitress who comes around and takes orders for food and drinks, like at a restaurant. They even have adult drinks. Anyhow, it normally costs a bunch. I don’t know the actual price, but it’s like eighteen bucks, a ridiculous price for anything movie-like. However, on “tight-wad-Tuesday” they have tickets for any movie they show for only six bucks!
Today we saw Ant-Man . The reviews were very poor, but what the heck… it’s “tight-wad-Tuesday.” Because I read the reviews, I went into this thing with very low expectations. And as a result, I was pleasantly surprised. I thought that this was quite a nice movie. It’s a typical Marvel comic super hero based on down-on-his-luck petty criminal who is trying to keep a relationship with his daughter. Just getting out of jail, he stumbles on a scientist with a super hot daughter. He gets a super-suit with, not only the astonishing ability to shrink, but he can control most ants. The cat burglar Scott Lang must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, (Michael Douglas) plan and pull off a heist that will save the world. He eventually, and awkwardly, saves the world, bonds with his daughter, and gets the girl. I gave it a 8.5 stars.
