Politically correct and shit

I thought I’d never agree with my liberal friends on anything.  How things have changed.  I now am on an official boycott of Walmart.

Now Walmart has announced that they will no longer sell semi-automatic firearms in any of their stores. FROM HERE

Walmart bows to the pressures of political correctness once again. The “Black Lives Matter” people pronounce themselves pleased.

Walmart succumbed to pressure from the “Black Lives Matter” groups and their bias against white Southerners. No more, said Walmart piously, would they sell anything with the racially oppressive word “Dixie” on it. Nor would they sell any merchandise with the Confederate flag on it. That was then… this is now.

Now, after the ABC news shooting, Walmart has announced that they will no longer sell semi-automatic firearms in any of their stores. This is not connected to the concerted efforts of the “Black Lives Matter” crowd, according to a Walmart spokesman.  They say too many black men are killed with AR-15 style rifles (they don’t mention it’s other black men wielding them) and they have been going after Walmart with nuisance suits and penny  packet “demonstrations.”  But Walmart says there is no connection between the announcement last week of a protest, and Walmart’s sudden announcement that the guns have to go.  It’s just a coincidence, related to normal marketing, and they neglected to make the announcement when the decision was made months ago. That’s all. This is the same ploy they used when the Sara Brady clan went after them and they decided to stop selling hand guns. They undoubtedly think people are stupid, and they are largely correct in this assumption, but not everyone buys their facile announcements. I don’t care myself, they can quit selling everything as far as I am concerned. But if anyone is in the market for an AR-15 they are clearing out the inventory and it might be a good time to buy. Even if a Bushmaster came from Walmart, it’s still a Bushmaster.

But in the end, I have no use for anyone that has no spine when it comes to standing up against the crazy fringe groups and also doing what is right… so the boycott is on!

Weekend Plans

Guess what I did this weekend. Saturday morning early, I went to the gun show. It was at the Hillsboro fairgrounds. I didn’t buy anything, but I got the business card of a guy who does a good volume of used guns.

I once had a favorite gun store. It was the Gun Broker in Tigard. I had a good relationship with the owner and I went in once a week. I even paid the guy a little commission if he found something that I had on my wish list. Well, all good things come to an end. The Gun Broker went out of business. Now I have no where to go to get good high quality guns at a low cost. I hope this new contact is going to pay off.

Anyhow, I got some reloading stuff and a few other things, and had a fun time. About noonish, I went to the beer fest. After that, I went home and finished a project that I had been working on for months. Over all, it was a pretty good weekend.

Stupid is as stupid does

Joe for Pres

This is What a Democracy Eventually Becomes – We are There.

We are no longer a “Democracy”. We are becoming an Ineptocracy!

Ineptocracy – A system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

My friends whine about Obama and how bad he is as a leader. Obama is just a symptom. The disease is the electorate that put him into office … Twice.

Now, I just read that the democrats are getting a little nervous about Hillary. They are seriously considering running crazy uncle Joe (Biden) for Pres. Now that I see how problematic this country has become (where people care more about Kim Kardashian than Nuclear War With Iran ). It makes me nervous that the inept Joe Biden just might have a chance.

Dilbert in Action

I’m filing this under “stupid crap hospital administrators do”   It’s just like the Dilbert cartoon. When people in charge have no clue what the employees do each day, and yet they insist on making sweeping changes, it’s like a comic strip…

Hospital Mandates Nurses Wear Yellow Safety Belts While Checking out Pyxis Medications

In Norfolk, VA a Hospital Administrators wanted to crack down on medication errors and they are willing to go to any length to do it.   New studies show that many medication errors occur as nurses check out medications at the Pyxis machine and subsequently as they walk to deliver the medication to the patient.   Root cause analysis of these errors have demonstrated that human factors such as being distracted are potential causes of these medication errors.

In order to help combat distractions, a new policy just approved by the hospital board will mandate all nurses to wear reflective yellow safety belts while checking out medications at the Pyxis machine.

“Shh, don’t bother me,” is what you hear when passing meds.

“During the check out process and delivery of the medication, wearing the yellow safety belt is now mandatory and no one should approach or talk to that individual.  Once the medication has been given to the patient and charted twice, the belt can come off and talking can resume,” said hospital administrators.

Administrators went on, “Nurses wearing the belt should not engage in any conversation and others should not engage nurses wearing the belt including visitors and patients.”

“Are you kidding me!” was the overwhelming response from several nurses at the hospital.

Some nurses are taking a very different approach.  Emily Richard, an ER nurse, loves the new idea and is using the reflective belts for another reason. “Yeah, so when I don’t want anybody to talk to me or to tell me what to do, I just wear the belt around the ED all shift.  Works like a charm!”  If someone asks her for help with a lab draw or a new IV bag, she just motions towards her safety belt and puts her hands in the air just like she doesn’t care.

Administrators thought the belts sounded like a great idea in theory, but it may have fallen short, just like the idea to make pain the 5th vital sign. Family members and patients now interrupt nurses even more to inquire about why they are wearing the belt.

“The belt is so comical,” said Allison Meadows, a medicine ward nurse. “It does absolutely nothing except create more conversations…about the damn belt. Why don’t they give us fewer patients per nurse, put less emphasis on bringing turkey sandwiches to patients for patient satisfaction scores, better on the Press Ganey. How about a pay raise? That’s how you really cut down on medication errors!”

Muslim Weddings?

Make the Damn Cake

I have a few Muslim friends and  I don’t want to offend any of them.  So I want everyone to understand that, as a Christian, I am deeply offended.  So, to be totally fair,  let’s celebrate all religious groups together.

Today America (pandering to the aggrieved) is busy creating protected classes of people who enjoy certain exemptions from responsibility. Recently we’ve learned homosexuals have the entitled right to force others to pander to their sexual appetites, and ‘preferences.’  It has become the new normal – when it applies to Christians (only).  The most recent wedding cake ordeal here in Portland, for example.

So, to be fair, I have to ask…  is being Muslim a choice or is it something you were born to be? The jury is (literally) out on that one and I will leave that decision to those in black robes to decide for me on my behalf.

However your conscience lets you slice it, right?

Is homosexuality a choice or is this compulsion natural and inborn? Every generation seems to redefine it and none of the generations seem to agree.

When the liberals and the homosexual agenda go out of their way to persecute Christians it’s fine…   but what about the 800 lbs. gorilla in the corner?  You know, the Muslims?  When will the gays demand to have their weddings in a Mosque?  Will the Supreme Court decide once again in favor of the gays?  Or will they see the side of the Muslims?

What if you were born to be a Nazi and being a Nazi imparts a sense of “dignity” (to quote Justice Kennedy) to you? You’re white and people kick you around – but once you’ve joined a group of a like-minded group, complete with the “SS” membership on your sleeve, you begin to feel more dignity. You find a woman that you love and want to marry and create your little “National Socialists Party”. And that sense of dignity requires that your Nazi wedding cake is made by Jews. Should the Jewish bakery be forced by law to recognize and celebrate your union?

Hard to Believe This Asshole Was Ever a Seal

aa death

In my profession, I frequently find myself very discouraged. When I was young I wanted excitement, so I worked in the emergency department. I found it to be difficult and sometimes heartbreaking. I didn’t realize it in the beginning, but I would see death, pain and suffering on a scale greater than I could ever have imagined. I was weak, and eventually after several years, I began to question my faith and even the existence of God. This was a very dark time in my life. I saw bad things, and I even took part in some bad things. I saw real evil. Then, out of the blue, while reading a biography on Albert Einstein, I had a realization that somehow renewed my faith. He said, for every power, there is an opposite power. So essentially, you can’t have evil without good. It’s the “yen” to the “yang.” But this still didn’t help me that much in my struggle. I would see things like a drunk driver mow down a three year old, or a convicted felon rob a store and in the get-away, shoots a single mother three small children. And it was constant… this was happening seven days a week. I eventually had to leave the ER. I now work in a much calmer, less-stressful environment. But I still have visions of the ER. Mostly because I know in my heart that, even though I’m no longer there to witness it, I know that these horrors are still there and going strong.

I now work in outpatient surgery and do mostly oncology surgery. I often wonder if I’m doing any good at all. I actually put an application to work at Ace Hardware on Saturday.

I think it’s strange how God works. …

The Starfish Story

A young man is walking along the beach and sees thousands and thousands of starfish washed ashore.  A little further, he sees an old man stooping and picking up one starfish after another and tossing each back into the ocean.  “Why are you throwing starfish  into the ocean?” he asks.

“Because the sun is up and the tide is going out.  If I don’t throw them further in, they will die.”

The young man said, “but don’t you realize there are miles of beach and many starfish.  You can’t possibly save them all.  you can’t even save one-tenth of them.  In fact, even if you work all day, you efforts won’t make any difference at all.”

The old man listened calmly and then bend down and picked up another starfish and threw it into the sea.  “Well, it made a difference to that one.”  he said.

I got this bit of encouragement from my friend just today….Thanks Lloyd.

Sunday Question

I don’t care if atheists don’t believe in Jesus. But the atheists all seem to stress over the fact that I believe in Jesus. The Atheists, the Liberals, the ACLU, and now our political leaders are all working tirelessly to rid this country of all links to Christianity.

In this country, not everyone believes in God, but it seems that even the secularists believes in hell.

I was arguing with a relative (from another church) about Christians and the fate of those who don’t accept Jesus. I claimed that hell was a terrible place full of brimstone and eternal fire. She said, “hell can’t be like that. God is merciful and wouldn’t let people suffer like that. Hell isn’t hell as in the literal sense. It’s simply being separated or “cut off from God.”

Unfortunately, I think she’s mistaken. Unfortunately, it’s not up to God, it’s exactly what the liberals area always spewing, it’s all about personal choice of the individual. Because we have the power of individual choice, we decide our own fate, not God. He simply makes the judgment.

Why is there a “Highway to Hell” and yet only a “Stairway to Heaven”. Is it the anticipated traffic flow?
